During the 17th century up until the early 20th century, canes/walking sticks were an essential accessory for a gentleman. Of course, just one cane could never do, so the said gent would have a fine selection to suit every attire.
Of course, it wasn’t long before ingenious gadget canes made an appearance and many a clever cane maker would try their hardest in incorporating something clever in the shaft of a stick.
